Travelling in El Nido with Solitude Part2

This writing is for anybody who wants to feel bliss in nature.

I hope my writing will help you manifest one of your dreams of going to El Nido.

On the side note, please do not fear of going to El Nido alone. I am just a 24 years old short Asian girl who was able to enjoy my exploration. If I can do it, so can you! Believe in yourself more and go for it : )

These are the things I wish I had known in planning my solo-trip to El Nido, Palawan.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Some things it is better to know about El Nido (Continued in Part3)

  1. It is possible to go there within a day.

If you are looking for a relaxing time, then you should take more than 2 days.

However, if you are just looking for the experience, then 1 day is enough because you can do the whole experience in only 24 hours.

This was my schedule:

21:00 :                 left Puerto Princesa with a shuttle bus

2:30:                    arrived in El Nido

~3;30:                  enjoyed reggae bar

4:00:                    arrived hotel

9:00 ~ 17:00:      Tour A

17:30~ :               Zipline

20:00:                  Shuttle bus to Puerto Princessa

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

  1. About Airport
  • Airplanes are extremely late. Thus, do not make tight schedules. Do consider about the waiting time when planning

  • Port Princessa Airport is small. It is just one big open room. Then, you just go outside where there is a tourist office. Many tricycles are there as well

  • One thing I was surprised is that you have to pay 200 pesos for the terminal fee when you leave the airport. 200 PESOS! I thought it was awfully a lot considering the airport condition.

  • ATM near the airport: they charge you 200 pesos if you do not have a Philippine card

  • If you arrive at the airport in midnight, go hang out at food chain store. (Read below)

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

  1.     Places near the Airport
  • Going to the city (?) which seemed like just one street with stores is very nearby. With a tricycle it is only about 10 pesos.

  • I arrived at the airport around 1 am for my morning flight which was at 6 am. The airport was closed. (I was assuming it was open 24/7) If this will be the case for you, what I did was took 20 pesos (Nighttime fee) from the airport to the city. I hanged out at the food chain store like smth-smth bee, mcdonald, donkin donuts and a Chinese store. These places are close by. It was not dangerous at all. There were many young teens hanging out. I was able to talk and chat with them, so it was more fun as well J There were other tourists who were doing the same thing. So, it was a nice opportunity for me to meet new people and hear their stories

  • The city is not dangerous. I saw little girls walking down the street at 2 am laughing

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

  1. Shuttle Bus.
  • Do not take the lexis shuttle bus. The bus seating is not comfortable

  • My recommendation is Miroju Transport (500pesos oneway)

  • If you take a bus shuttle from the hotel, most likely it is the bus shuttle that also takes other people. Therefore, you would have to wait for other people who are also going to El Nido. For my case, I was supposed to leave at 6pm to El Nido, but ended up leaving at 9 pm because we had to wait for the other passengers

  • It is 5 hours drive

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

  1. Reggae Bar
  • The shuttle bus driver took me to a reggae bar in front of the ocean of El Nido. It was very chill and had good music. Although, it is a reggae bar, there were some pop songs as well. Ask the driver or somebody from the city. They will most likely know

  • There were few lady boys who were literally hunting to find some white men

  • It was a spot for many tourists

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

(Continue to my Part3)

  • If you want to know what will be waiting for you in El Nido, read my part1
  • If you want to know about Tour A, read my part3

  • If you are slightly interested, do not just think it is not possible for you to go. Anything is possible. It all relies to your decision. I know you are brave enough to create your own path, so live your life! Decide and act!
  • If you have any question, do leave a comment. I would love to hear your thoughts!
