4462 4 Rule

A lot of my tribe shares me that they cannot relax.

Sometimes, when I share yoga, I see people who don’t know how to relax. They are always alert. Their eyes are open or their shoulders and chest are tight. Their whole body is tense.

It is good to be alert … that is how our ancestors had survived by having fight / flight / flee respond. Those who were most sensitive to potential threat lived longer. That is how our brain is being made.

However, if  we do not learn ways to deactivate our stress control and calm our nervous system, we will always be alert and … we will feel exhausted.

I want to share you something that will benefit you.

It is something which I have learned in the Himalaya when I was in my yoga training

This helps you to 

  • deactivate your stress response system which allows you to reduce anxiety and invite calmness
  • regain your brain’s executive function ability which help you take empowering action than feeling powerless and being reactive

Suggestion ***

  • breathe in with your nose
  • breathe out with your mouth

  •  Breathing in with nose

⇒ helps you to take deeper breathes which stimulates the lower lung to distribute greater amounts of oxygen throughout the body

more oxygen to the organs = more vitality = promote cell growth = better immune system (National Library of Medicine)

  • Breathing out with mouth

⇒ helps you to relax and release even more 

  • Holding breath

⇒ reduce heart beat = you will feel more calm
